Lydon Speaks at Creative Cities Summit.
Date: 4/12/2010
Mike Lydon spent much of last week bicycling around Lexington, Kentucky and speaking at the Creative Cities Summit. Lydon spoke about the need to accommodate bicyclists in a session entitled "Taming the Car: Reclaiming Our Cities from the Tyranny of the Transportation Department." Lydon also lead a session called "Design and Sustainability: Innovating the Built Environment." Session participants got an overview of smart growth principles related to redeveloping a 28-acre parking lot in downtown Lexington before launching into their own design session based Christopher Alexander's New Theory of Urban Design. Lydon summarized the work of participants the following day during the morning's plenary session.
